Someone Rescue Me Please!

Our Tuesday get together this week with Lynne is decorating Christmas cookies.  Cutout cookies to be exact.  This is my least favorite Christmas cookie to make.  Believe it or not, I am very short on patience when it come to rolling this dough out....it always sticks, rips, gets to soft, not thick enough or too thick.

Lynne sent me a recipe from her neighbor that is suppose to be the best.  I made the dough last night in preparation for my cookie baking today.  It's suppose to set overnight.  Keep it refrigerated and work in little bits.......  I made two sheets of them and I'm done.  It just doesn't work for me.
Shape gets distorted when baked

Too puffy....tree trunk missing a right bottom corner.
What is the secret?  This is what I'm striving for as an end result.
Get the feel.....?

I feel I'm headed this direction instead....
Maybe it's better that I just scrap the bowl of dough unless someone can give me a foolproof method for rolling these dang things!

  1. A tall frosty glass of cold milk and fresh baked funny looking cookies is the reward on a baking afternoon. Only the pretty ones go on the plate. Enjoy tomorrow!

  2. I have to tell you. Those perfect cookies don't tempt me. They look like something made commercially. And those usually don't taste home made. The ones my mouth waters for are the ones you made!! They look just yummy!!
