Homemade Cherry Pie Filling

Sour cherries from the market.

Pit and place into saucepan.

Add sugar, water, lemon juice cornstarch. Cook 10 minutes. Add almond extract.

Now make handpies.

Roll out dough, cut into circles.

Place a teaspoon of filling on each round.

Cover with another round, cut slits on top, eggwash, sprinkle with sanding sugar.

Viola.

Tasty little morsels of goodness!

I'd definitely make the filling again. May buy more cherries and try freezing. So easy, so delicious.
