Fun Outing

Last Christmas season, Richard and I went over to Grand Rapids - Eastown for their Holiday Shop Hop.  We were introduced to a few "new to us" antique stores.  I knew I wanted to return sometime when they weren't filled with hundreds of shoppers.

Lynne and I went on our weekly together day to visit these shops yesterday.  Wow, they had some really neat things.  Great ideas!
water faucet handles anyone?

Flower Frogs

Garden ornaments

Loved these silver pedestals with lily of the valley topped with a cloche

Cute idea, milk glass and silver dishes with mirror insets

Lots of architectural goods
Loved these dishes.
We browsed three antique stores...they all had nice things.

We  made a stop at HomeGoods (knew to us - just opened this past winter in Grand Rapids) and visited World Market.  Had a nice lunch at Blue Water Grill - our favorite stop when we drive over!

Wonderful day with a wonderful friend!

Rain has stopped finally - temperature is chilly here - chance of frost tonight - went out and covered all my plants - just to be safe.  Sun predicted for next several days - yes!

Just Like Summer

It was a beautiful day yesterday.  I seized the opportunity and I packed up the car and off I went to the beach.  The temperature was high 70's, very light wind, and plenty of sunshine.

I packed my beach chair, a book, some knitting and stopped and got a sandwich from Subway and had  my water glass full to the brim.

A perfect day....breezes, kids playing, boats, people in the water (brrrr), sunbathers......
and me....getting in some Vitamin D and a good read.
Thanks County Line Road!

Kitchen Reveal

As you may recall, a month ago I posted that we were going to upgrade our kitchen a bit.  Well, it finally is complete....almost.  The only thing lacking is window treatments.  I will be making roman shades for all the windows but am in search of the fabric.  I ordered a few sample....I may ask for your opinions.

We have been in our house for 13 years.  It was time for a little "upgrade" in the kitchen/dining room area.  Our house, when purchased, was a spec house thus, most of the trims and counters etc we builders grade.

BEFORE:

Mustard yellow walls, formica on counter tops
AFTER:

New paint, new Quartz counter tops

BEFORE:
Tile behind range

Tile removed, drywall, paint, new countertops

 BEFORE:
Dining Room;  Cluttered, mustard walls
 AFTER:
Wider baseboards in dining room and kitchen, painted, very little furniture
Snack bar area had bad paneling - fake wood.
AFTER:
Panel insets, painted and new barstools

Really like the undermount sink and new faucet with soap dispenser!

New pendant light over sink
Sorry this is sideways.....found wall pockets to hang in kitchen
Basically, it was paint, new baseboards, new countertops (Cambria), and under snack bar improvement.
Oh, removal of the tile.

Last thing for now is window treatments.

These will be faux roman shades for these windows and by the sink.

Any thoughts?

So there you have it!  I'm happy as it looks much richer and so much larger.

Enjoy this gorgeous day.

Morning Walk

It's just a gorgeous morning.  Sunny, cool, peaceful.  Please share my walk......

This was along Mona Lake and then out to Lake Michigan.  The lake pictures were taken atop the dune.
Hey friends, enjoy this glorious day!
