Lunch with Friends

On our way back up to Orlando, we stopped in Punta Gorda at a great Crab Shack and had lunch,
Diane and Brent, Mari and Mike, and Richard and I.
(Left to right:  Di, Mari, Barb)

Diane just retired a month ago and is adjusted all ready.  She's loving the good life.  Mari loves it down here in Florida and keeps busy in her community.  She is doing pretty good...still is able to play cards with friends twice a week.

What a great afternoon.

Erik's Concert

We had the privilege of attending my nephew Erik's band concert. It was held at Winter Park High School and it was the All County Honor Band. Erik is a percussionist. He is in the back row....standing, second in from left.

The concert consisted of 7 and 8th graders, 9th and 10th graders, and then Erik's group which you see on stage here - they are the 11th and 12th graders. The conductor for their music was a guest from MSU (Michigan State University). What a great performance! So glad we were able to attend.

Erik did a great job! So proud of him.

Which could I live in?

We cruised the streets of downtown/Olde Naples this morning.  This first house doesn't look like to much but it is about a half of block deep.  Love it!
This one is lovely also...love the ivy growing up the house.
This one was hidden amongst the trees, vines, shrubs and flowers:
And just in case I'm interested in hosting the whole family, this would do:
Yes, this is one house - about half a block long.
Dream on, huh.?

Pretty but Scared!

This park was on our way from Everglade City.  We went to the Seafood Festival and decided to stop here and look for alligators. We saw a few but my pictures were blurred.  What a gorgeous walk through thick jungle.

February 2012

We looked at a rental guest house for next year.  I thought it was perfect - of course, Richard doesn't.
It is just a few blocks from the beach and a few blocks off  Fifth Avenue.  Here's the interior - perfect (for me).

Cute little patio off the kitchen.  I love it.....to fou-fou for the man!  Darn it!

I Adore Naples!

There is so much here.  There is nothing to want....shops, restaurants, bars, antique stores, thrift shops, the beach, 5th Avenue, Dairy Queen,  etc. etc.

Today I discovered a French Bakery. The French Oven Bakery. Oh my!  The pastry chef was just bringing out to put in the case as I was taking a picture of the case so he held these out for me to shoot.  I should have gotten his picture too.

I got just the single strawberry custard tart and,,,,I couldn't resist.  A chocolate/almond croissant.  Delicious...melt in your mouth goodness.

I also took a ride to Mercato...a little shopping district.  I read about this store all the time on my blogs so I had to pay a visit:
It's a nice home decorating store, reasonable prices:
I purchased three different sizes of mercury glass candle holders.  It was a fun place to shop.
